LastPass is introducing a new feature that will help IT teams cut down on Shadow IT, including Shadow AI, in their organizations.
SaaS Monitoring provides insights into what applications are being used across an organization, allowing IT teams to see unapproved business tools, monitor application usage, and even enforce password and access management policies to further reduce risk.
It runs through the LastPass browser extension, so there is no extra application to install or configure for companies already utilizing LastPass for password management.
“In their efforts to enhance productivity, employees often turn to SaaS and AI tools outside of company policies,” said Don MacLennan, chief product officer at LastPass. “This Shadow IT usage can result in cost overruns and business-critical data exposures. SaaS Monitoring from LastPass is an affordable, easy-to-deploy capability that gives businesses the visibility they need to identify unnecessary risks and curb spending.”
The new solution is available as part of the company’s Business Max plan, which comes with support for unlimited users, more than 120 customizable policies, directory integrations, federated login, advanced reporting, and a library of pre-integrated SSO apps.
