Nutanix, at its .NEXT user conference today, extends its enterprise storage and data services to Kubernetes and bare metal servers with the introduction of Cloud Native AOS, its platform for workload management.

According to the company’s announcement, “As data becomes more distributed, users are looking for a consistent way to protect, replicate and restore data across Kubernetes infrastructure in data centers, bare metal edge locations and cloud native hyperscalers.”

Cloud Native AOS, the company said, is a data platform, with storage and data services, that runs in all those environments. “By eliminating the need for a hypervisor, Nutanix allows users to consolidate storage management across the distributed hybrid cloud,” the company wrote.

“Nutanix has built a complete platform for enterprise-grade infrastructure with advanced data services in virtualized data centers,” said Thomas Cornely, SVP, Product Management at Nutanix. “Now we are extending the reach of our platform to users of cloud-native infrastructure on Kubernetes service in public clouds and on bare metal, delivering enterprise resiliency, day 2 operations, and security.”

Cloud Native AOS is in early access on Amazon EKS, and is expected to reach general availability in the summer, while early access for on-premises containerized environments on bare-metal servers is expected to be available by the end of this calendar year, the company announced.

Nutanix also is partnering with Pure Storage on a workload management and deployment solution that offers operational effectiveness and meets the demands of the changing virtualization landscape. In its announcement, Nutanix cited a Gartner Market Guide for Service VIrtualization that says by 2026, “disruption in the server virtualization market will drive 50% of enterprises to reevaluate their server virtualization needs.”

With the Pure Storage partnership, Nutanix is integrating its cloud infrastructure with Pure Storage Flash Array for high-demand data workloads, including artificial intelligence.

The solution is under development and is expected to be in early access by summer and generally available at the end of this calendar year through both Nutanix and Pure Storage channel partners.

Cohesity expands partnership with Nutanix

Cohesity, the Nvidia-backed leader in AI-powered data security, is partnering with Nutanix to provide customers with innovations including AI-powered insights from Cohesity Gaia and RAG, and improved incident response and recovery through the Cohesity Clean Room Solution.

“More than ever, customers are relying on infrastructure to run applications and data across diverse environments — with 92% of companies expected to adopt multi-cloud strategies by the end of 2025,” the company wrote in its announcement. “As companies continue figuring out the best path forward for cloud adoption, strong data security and management will be critical to minimize downtime, ensure business continuity, and help organizations prepare for and recover from cyberattacks.”
